I recently had to repair one of the keys on my trusty VIC 20. The plunger had somehow snapped clean off, luckily I was able to extract the remains of the plunger from the key.
I brought some replacement plungers and springs from Retroleum
One broken key! |
I proceeded to disasemble the keyboard, firstly it was unplugged from the VIC20 main board.
The next step was to remove the bottom PCB that holds all of the keys in place, there are a million tiny screws to remove.
The remaing part of the broken plunger could now be removed.
The replacement plunger has been fitted and the keyboard is now back together.
VIC 20 now reasembled, ready to be tested.
Sucess! The 0 key works.
